Other Arlington Leaders Threatened
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - The Arlington mayor, targeted this week in an alleged murder for hire plot, is not the only high ranking official in the city to be threatened in the last year.
CBS11 learned that last year Police Chief Theron Bowman was receiving protection around the clock. At the time, a police official said any information about the protection could put lives in danger.
Video shot outside Bowman’s home in August shows unmarked security posted on the chief’s property. A marked Arlington police SUV was across the street, and sometimes in a neighbor’s driveway.
Two portable security camera systems were set up at the front entrance, and at the back of the property. The equipment was covered in plastic to hide any logos. The cameras were eventually removed.
Arlington has repeatedly denied requests for more information on the detail, citing an open investigation. Just last month the attorney general denied a CBS11 request for details of the funds spent in connection with the protection, as well as details of the use of city assets, resources and personnel.
